Perhaps one of the best-kept secrets in Alabama, the Elk River is a tributary of the Tennessee River in the U.S. states of Tennessee and Alabama. The river is about 195 miles long, winding its way from Southern Tennessee into Northwestern Alabama before petering out into the Tennessee River and Wheeler Lake. A community of its own, the Elk River enjoys fantastic scenery, quiet relaxation and beautiful, lakefront homes.
