Fishing Comments:
The last fisheries survey, conducted in 1992, recorded seven species: yellow perch, pumpkinseed sunfish, brown bullhead, chain pickerel, largemouth bass, alewife and American eel. White perch and golden shiners were reported from a 1985 fisheries survey and are presumably still present as well. Long Pond in Yarmouth is annually stocked in the spring with a mix of rainbow trout, brown trout and brook trout. It is primarily a spring put-and-take fishery with limited holdover potential. In addition to stocked trout in the spring, this pond also offers a good fishery for largemouth bass and yellow perch. There is always the possibility of taking a good pickerel as well. A good forage base is provided by sea-run alewives which ascend the Parker River to Seine Pond and from there to Long Pond. The southern half of the pond is particularly good for bass fishing in April and May. Other nearby Ponds include Scargo Lake in Dennis and Slough and Walkers Pond in Brewster.
