Aquatic weeds are common along much of the shore. Residential development is moderate with many year-round homes and summer cottages.  About 1/3 of the shore is undeveloped, in contrast to the rest of the shoreline. The entire pond is surrounded by private land except where there is a public historic cemetery in the south along Main Street.  As a result, cartop boats can only be safely launched in the parking lot of the Castle restaurant behind the red building.
