Nice average sized spring-fed lake with a real mix of cottages and year-round homes. All boating activites are accepted (no public ramp). Very quiet area making it a popular fishing spot. Town Beach on Taft Avenue. Many smaller lots required to have tight-tanks for septic system. A new Lake Nipmuc Association has been formed. Meetings are held monthly on the first Thursday evening of the month at 7 p.m. at the Mendon Senior Center. The mission of the association is to preserve and protect the aesthetic, recreational, and economic value of Lake Nipmuc and its watershed. Many participate in the traditional family activities such as the Great Cardboard Boat Race.
