North Pond, also known as Lake Maspenock, is a raised Great Pond with a surface area that occupies approximately 234 acres. It is bounded by the towns of Hopkinton, Upton and Milford. Its depth ranges between eight and 20 feet, its shoreline is privately owned and use of the pond is high. The lake is located at the headwaters of the Mill River with its main portion being located in Hopkinton. It is approximately two miles long, it is about 2,000 feet wide at its widest point and it has a north-south orientation. At its outlet, the lake drains an area of approximately 1,813 acres. From its outlet in Milford, Mill River eventually flows into the Blackstone River. The lake is fully recreational and can get busy in the summer. There are many rock outcropping to look out for while boating but most of them are marked. This is a very desirable lake because of its proximity to Boston and the desirable town of Hopkinton (start of the Boston Marathon). The mission of the Lake Maspenock Preservation Association is to build a sense of community around the lake and protect the lake for future generations. They are very active and have one of the best lake association websites in MA. The town/Association employs winter draw-down techniques to manage weeds. Sandy Island Beach area is located off Lakeshore Drive.

Ramp Comments: Residents: Boats are launched at town beach on Lakeshore Drive. A sticker is required from the town. For non-residents, car-top boats can be placed in on the south side of West Main Street between the northern causeways. Parking limited to about 6 vehicles here.
