Lower Naukeag Lake is completely private with no public access. There are no restrictions on horsepower for boats and jet skis are allowed. They have a lake association that is voluntary; membership is achieved by paying annual dues:  $150 for waterfront and $75 for off the water.  They've been chemically treating the lake every year and also conduct a drawdown every fall to help control nuisance aquatic vegetation.  They have not had any problems with weeds for over 20 years.  The water quality is good and considered one of the best in Ashburnham, which has seven developed lakes.  The dam is owned by the town which removes all liability and maintenance costs from the association.  We have a diverse wetlands and wildlife without any nuisance flocks of ducks, geese or seagulls.  This summer (2014) they even had several sightings of a bald eagle.  The fishing is also quite good, with largemouth bass, pickerel, perch and crappie and an abundant food source of blue gill.
