Guilford Lake – is an Ohio state park located in Lisbon, Ohio on the western fork of the Little Beaver Creek. The lake is situated in the glaciated plateau of the state and the combination of gentle rolling terrain and remaining wetlands attracts a variety of visitors and animals alike including a plethora of songbirds and waterfowl. This fishing lake is popular among anglers and campers alike and provides a peaceful get-a-way for residents.
Lake / Beach / Marina – Guilford lake is approximately 361 acres with 7.7 miles of shoreline and a maximum depth of 22 feet. The lake is primarily a fishing lake where kayaks and canoes are allowed along with boats under 10 HP. Anglers are common at Guilford due to the wide range of fish including catfish, perch, and breeds of sunfish. There is a 600-foot public swimming beach on the northwest side of the lake. Also at Guilford lake is a privately owned and operated Marina on the south side of the lake that does boat rentals and sells fuel and fishing supplies.
Offshore Amenities – As an Ohio state park Guilford Lake has several offshore activities as well, including 41 full service campsites. There is also a volleyball court, horseshoe pit, basketball court and playground equipment. The lake also has 8 picnic areas around the lake with a larger shelter-house known as the Teagarden available by reservation. Residents will also find a ½ mile hiking trail and hunting opportunities with waterfowl hunting blinds on a first come first serve basis. There is also the Twin Springs Golf Course within the lake community, a 9 hole course. And there are also two lake-community restaurants with a view of the lake; Guilford Lake Grille and Mark’s Landing.
Nearby Activities – There are also several things to do for fun outside of the Guilford Lake community. There are several additional golf courses in the area including the Eagle Pass Golf Course in East Rochester, as well as the Hickory Hollow Golf Club in Salem. There are three more wildlife areas nearby; the Beaver Creek State Park, Zepernick Lake State Wildlife Area, and Yellow Creek State Forest, all with additional hiking trails, fishing and boating opportunities, and natural scenery to check out. The Pro Football Hall of Fame is nearby in Canton Ohio, a fun activity for the whole family, as well as some historical sites in nearby Lisbon including the monument to commemorate the surrender of General John Hunt Morgan during the Civil War.
