For over a century, locals and out-of-state visitors alike have flocked to New Hampshire’s Canobie Lake for multiple reasons. Birding, boating, and fishing tournaments are all a way of life around Canobie Lake, but perhaps the most popular attraction of this beautiful body of water is Lake Canobie State Park. Opened in 1902, the park has a Ferris wheel and even a roller coaster to enjoy amongst other fantastic attractions. The lake covers about 275 acres and is roughly 40 feet deep at the most. The lake itself is only about a mile and a half long and borders the towns of Salem and Windham.

Canobie Lake Park, an amusement park, is located on the lake's east shore. The lake is the water supply for the town of Salem, New Hampshire. Canobie Lake is predominantly spring-fed. Aside from the amusement park, the shores of the lake are primarily lined with houses. Water from the lake flows via Policy Brook to the Spicket River and thence to the Merrimack River in Lawrence, Massachusetts. Canobie Lake in Windham New Hampshire offers waterfront living in this desirable community. Woodvue Road is the location of one of Windham's premier waterfront neighborhoods. Dramatic custom homes on large waterfront lots offer commanding views of he lake. Canobie is the water supply for Salem NH so no swimming is allowed (although, it appears that residents still do). Power-boating is allowed (go figure). Canobie is a quiet lake and has been the home of a pair of nesting loons for several years.
