Silver Lake was once a popular summer resort destination for area residents. Today, residents can enjoy the sandy beach and tepid waters off Grove Street for free during the summer. Non-residents are charged $5 per person between Memorial Day until mid-August, but there is another free beach (baby beach) right off Main Street that many non-residents flock to. During the winter months many children take to ice-skating and playing ice-hockey on the 28.5-acre lake, while adults go ice fishing. The town tests the water quality weekly during the summer months. Hours: Daylight hours, Memorial Day - August 15 for lifeguard swimming. Parking: Free lot. Number of lifeguards: 2. Beach pass information: Non-resident season pass: $40 per adult, $20 per child over 3; Day pass: $5 per person; Residents of Wilmington, free.
