The watershed of Lake George encompasses many many acres (the lake itself is 93 acres) and includes the land surrounding Lake George, inlet streams, underground springs, and the streams and ponds that make their way into Brimfield. The Town of Wales has the responsibility of monitoring and maintaining these waterbodies; however, it must also be protected by the individual property owners who reside, own property, or run businesses within its boundary. The Lake George Lake Association hopes to help residents understand their part in maintaining the quality of the water and to provide them with the rules and regulations governing the use of the lake. Dues are $50 per family unless you belong to a club i.e., Sichols, Lakeland or any other Lake George beach club. The beach club as a whole can join for $50 with each member in the club joining for an additional $5. Dues are due June 1st each year. The Town Lake Committee works with the Lake Association to treat weeds and lilly pads. Draw down starts in early October and holds as of December 1st.  It returns to 12 inches mid January. We historically get down some 18 inchs. Jet ski’s are allowed. There is no limit on motor horse power. The Town has a boat ramp and there are several private homes that have ramps.
