Freeman lake has development on about 45% of its shoreline and has a transparency of only about 3 feet. There are numerous homes and cottages on the east side. The south shore abuts the dam and spillway. Aquatic vegetation is scant due to the poor clarity of the water, but there is a moderate level of weed growth in the shallow areas. The pond has minimal boat traffic because of the lack of public access. Most boats on this pond belong to shoreline homeowners. There has been an increase in invasive aquatic species lately, especially non-native plants. See below. With a cool breeze, grassy picnic area and sprawling views, Freeman Lake is a place for locals to read a good book or catch up on some much needed rest and relaxation. For children who need to work off some energy, there is a playground and a basketball court nearby. Minnows swim along the shore and children plunge their nets into the water hoping to grab the catch of the day.
