Big Spectacle Pond is a 66 acre two-story pond located in Lancaster just south of Route 2. The water is clear with a transparency of 19 feet. The shoreline is 75% developed with summer and year round homes. This is truely a hidden gem. Take a kayak ride around this lake and you will certainly appreciate its beauty. Tastefully developed, many of the properties have larger lot sizes than other lakes in MA. Certainly has a northern Vermont and Maine feel to the shoreline with abundant wildlife. Aquatic weeds are very scant throughout the pond. As of this writing, shoreline access is limited to the town beach area on the north end of the pond off of Old Union Road. Only car top boats and canoes can be launched from Labor Day until Memorial Day. The fish population includes nine species of fish including the following: largemouth bass, chain pickerel, brown trout, rainbow trout, yellow perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, white sucker and banded killifish. The most abundant gamefish are largemouth bass and the most abundant panfish are bluegills.

Fishing Comments: This managed trout pond is stocked with trout during the spring season. Largemouth bass provide fair fishing and large bluegills and yellow perch provide good panfishing.
