Baldpate Pond is a medium sized, natural great pond. Transparency is good, extending to nearly 11-feet. The bottom is mostly gravel with the coves having typical layers of muck. On the north shore you will find the Boxford State Forest and the Georgetown town beach. The southern area has a low density of houses, mostly smaller cottages. While much of the shore is publicly owned, large portions are suitable for shore angling, particularly in the spring before the weeds come up. Aquatic vegetation is light, and is lightly dispersed along the northeastern, eastern and southeastern shores. Milfoil is present near the access ramp and efforts are being made to keep it controlled. To ensure this, the town stresses that visitors clean their boat, motor, and trailer before arriving.

Water Quality: No Known Issues
Vegetation Growth: Minimal
Non-native Species: Eurasian Watermilfoil (Myriophyllum Spicatum)

Fishing Comments: The state stocks the pond with Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout. Even with the limited access, this pond is popular with local fisherman, with most of them fishing during the peak of the spring trout-stocking season. Shore fishermen can cast to the best trout “hole” located along the middle of the northern shore. Largemouth Bass and Pickerel are found most along the weed beds.
